Of Mice & Men @ Southampton Guildhall 26.03.15

Californian based Of Mice & Men descended upon the Southampton Guildhall this Thursday (March 26th) on the UK leg of their Full Circle Tour, promoting the deluxe edition of 2014’s Restoring Force with the subtitle of… Full Circle. This time around they brought with them Australian metalcore act The Amity Affliction and fellow Californians Volumes.

The metalcore heavy lineup really pushed the sound system to it’s limits, progressively getting heavier throughout the night. The bands seemed to compliment each other well, with a good turnout for Volumes even while a couple hundred people were still queuing to get in. The crowd went crazy for The Amity Affliction – with circle pits and energy which rivalled that of the headline act!

But once Of Mice & Men finally took to the stage it was an hour of chaos, with breakdowns-a-plenty and a commanding stage presence by frontman Austin Carlisle – who knows how much the fans love him and really played up to it, in the most non-arrogant way you can capture the hearts of a thousand people at once of course…

The band rarely stopped to catch their breath playing the majority of songs from Restoring Force with a couple of classics from their self-titled album and The Flood – only with a brief moment of serenity during Another You… well for the most part.

They ended with a two song encore comprising one of their heaviest numbers to date The Depths and 2013’s single You’re Not Alone. All three bands played exceptionally, with Of Mice & Men really showing why they’ve shot up the rankings in recent years – despite numerous lineup changes. Below are our photos from the event, they sum up the atmosphere better than I ever could.

If you were there, or are heading to one of the last few UK dates let us know what you thought of the show!
