Great news for fitness and music lovers! Nike and Spotify have announced that they have joined forces for the new update of Nike’s mobile fitness app Nike+
on iOS devices. The Nike+ app allows users to track their progress, compare and compete, gives users guidance and training, and keeps users motivated.
The new update released on July 20th focused on the motivational factor of the Nike+ app, by introducing the new ‘Pace Stations’. Nike claim that ‘When it comes to running, music is motivation’, so these pace stations allow users to synchronise music to their workout. Users input their pace goal and musical preference, which is then synced to music from Spotify’s catalogue of over 30 million songs. This means that every step of your workout will be with the music and everyone knows how great when your music occasionally syncs up to the beat.
This new update is going to take running to a new level of enjoyment, as Nike VP Adam Roth said that “Our partnership with Spotify takes that experience to a new level, leveraging personalised music as motivational fuel every run, for every runner.”
Spotify is also part of the “Find Your Fast” challenge this summer. An eight-week program that includes workouts, tunes, and expert tips to help all runners, whether they are completing their first mile or realising a personal best.
To top things off Spotify is offering Nike+ users a up 60-days free premium Nike+ membership for IOS premium Spotify members.
Unfortunately the update is currently restricted to iOS devices, which I can imagine was a hit at Apple Music; one of Spotify’s biggest threats.
If you’re an Android user you can try the RockMyRun
app, which also synchronises your workout to music. Or if you want something a bit more out there in your workout you can try Zombies Run
, which turns your run into a post-apocalyptic zombie adventure!
So what are you waiting for? You can download the Nike+ app from the App Store
and get running!
